Our Young Artists’ Competition once again proved to be a success with 30 entries from 6 schools in the San Roque catchment area. At the Prize Giving reception held at Espacio Joven on Friday 20th April three talented students were picked as winners.

The judging panel consisted of artist and art teacher, Nestor Plada, representative from The Sovereign Group and artist Phoebe Kelly, and The Arts Society de la Frontera Chairman, Felicity Navarro.

The Members’ Prize, Sponsored by The Sovereign Group, was won by Ana Maria Luque Verá from I.E.S. Mar del Sur for her ‘Portrait of Luis Galiardo’, a well known actor and producer from San Roque. The medium was acrylic on canvas.

The judges picked the artwork ‘Euphoria’ by Ariadna Ruiz Castillo, aged 13, from I.E.S Jose Cadalso as the winner of the 11 to 14 years category worth €200. The medium for her artwork was pen marker and water on paper.

Talented photographer Lucia Palma Martin from I.E.S Jose Cadalso won the €300 prize for the 15 and upwards age category with her photo ‘Sala de alma’.

The success of the competition and prize giving evening is greatly due to the enthusiasm and hard work of Mariloly Cabedo, a huge thank you from all the committee.
